A JCBD mentor suggested ways for Joe to market himself, and now he is headed in the right direction. Joe speaks with his mentor regularly and is always able to discuss his latest thoughts. With the assistance of his mentor, Sam N. the new owner of a small cleaning business restructured the business from residential to commercial and his day to day operation went from a "hand waxing to a 2000 RPM buffer". His mentor has helped him not only work on several different business proposals and redesign his business card but is also there as a confidence booster. Esther M. worked as a sales representative for a large pharmaceutical company but an increase in travel caused her to leave her position. She decided to try and fulfill her dream of owning a woman's clothing store. With the help of her mentor, she found a location, developed a business plan and opened her store. She's still going strong after three years. David Z. Is a photographer "out on his own," a very good picture taker with little business experience. A mentor helped him figure out a marketing strategy, write a business plan and showed him how to set up a simple accounting system to track progress. Clients are now keeping him so busy, he had to cancel his last meeting with his mentor!
